AI startups secured a 57.9% share of global venture capital investments in Q1 of 2025, a significant increase from the 28% gained in the same period last year. North America followed a similar pattern, with 70% of its VC funding going to technology. This trend can be attributed to the “AI FOMO” phenomenon, as investors do not want to be left behind in the highly dynamic AI market. The global AI startup space drew $73 billion during the first quarter, more than half of last year’s total AI deal value. Notably, OpenAI raised $40 billion during a funding round backed by SoftBank.
